Home and Away

Well that was a quick turn around!

Russia was amazing - had such a fantastic time! Met loads fo new people, caught up with old friends and learnt so so much!

The final 8 games in the top 24 went well. I played the best I did all week so I went out on a high. Here is the link to all my scores for the whole tournament.
http://www.qubicaamf.com/NewsEvents/2007%20Bowling%20World%20Cup/bwcd.aspx?id=3639&year=2007

I missed the top 8 cut by 30 pins. Gutted? Of course! But it just gave me the determination to come home and work on my game so I can return bigger and better. And I will - you'll see! :o)

The banquet was loads of fun, a good chance to sit and chat with everyone! Relax and enjoy the final night!

I have loads of photos from the trip, they are al on facebook so please feel free to add me and have a browse! Once I get the gallery sorted on www.joallsebrook.com I will get them all loaded in there!

I arrived home at 11.30pm on Sunday evening! Was great to see my Mom again - I miss her loads when I'm away! Only had chance to chat for a little while before bed as I had to work 12-11.30 on Monday & Tuesday!

Tuesday evening straight from work we drove down to Maldon ready for the training camp Team England have organised for us. It's running from Wednesday 14th til Wed 21st with break tomorrow ( Sunday ) to play the Team England Ranking event in Tamworth.

We've done lots of classroom work learning new tricks and tips! It's been very hard work, very intense and fast moving but it's all good stuff! Sid & Ruben are 2 amazing guys, they are so inspirational!

I am looking forward to bowling the ranking event tomorrow, not bowled at Tamworth for a long long time!

Oh yeah.....I forgot to say I'm Bowler of the Year :o) I was awarded Female Bowler of the Year at the BTBA Dinner Awards at the Adult Counties whilst I was away! Finny brought me the trophy's to me at work on Monday - made coming home from the trip a little better! :o)

Talk Tenpin are doing the Gold Star awards too - so vote for me on there! www.talktenpin.co.uk on the forums! Either Under 24 or Female will do please!! HeHe!

Right I'm going to bed ready for tomorrow!

Have Fun

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday!

Well that's it - the 24 qualifying games are over and the cut to 24 has been made! I'm in YAY :o)

Here is the web address direct to the official site where you can view all my scores!
http://www.qubicaamf.com/NewsEvents/2007%20Bowling%20World%20Cup/bwcd.aspx?id=3150&year=2007

I've used mainly 3 balls Brunswick Blast Zone, Hammer Black Widow & Brunswick Red Zone. Changing the surfaces accordingly to suit how the pattern was playing! The pattern was the same every day but it played differently, I guess due to times and temperatures e.t.c!

I am happy with my performance overall! I was nervous to start off with which is pretty normal I'm surel! I made silly mistakes and missed easy spares! I spoke with Alex last night after 18 games and we worked out I missed 12 spareable spares - Oops! It hit home that that was 120 pins off my score, it was a hit to the stomach and a massive kick up the arse!

I went to the bowl today feeling much more relaxed and I bowled so much better! I was more consistent and only missed 2 spares that weren't splits - a left hand side single pin and the 3,6,9,10 (HATE THAT FRICKIN SPARE!!)

And so I did it, I was 20th before today and about 120 pins off 8th place! I ended the qualifying in 16th, 76 pins from 8th! Which over 8 games is rather do-able! :o)

The past 4 days have been wicked - I've had so much fun, met lots of new friends and the bowling has been wicked! The tournament is amazing, everyone is so friendly and still everyone wants to win!

We've had a little bit more snow but only a slight gathering until.........................................tonight! We came out the bowl after watching Jason belmonte finish his 8 games qualifying more than 800 over - CRAZY!!! And the snow was falling like proper snow :o) it's settling too, at leats it would be if it weren't for the crazy russian people sweeping it off the paths!

The people here are a bit......erm......different! They don't try and make it easy for you, I admit I'm not good at speaking Russian but I try and speak clearly to them, point and smile and the mojority of them just turn and ignore you! :o( They are very rude and seem to do as they please - in the que in the supermarket they will just push infront then huff n puff when you push them pack. Silly People! Have found a few nice people though....one girl in KFC, one in Baskins & Robins and the nice security guard smiles every now n then ( even if he is just laughing at my hair! ) So we're sorted....Chicken, Ice Cream and a Happy Security Guard - Happy Days!

Right I have an early start again tomorrow 8am start so 7am bus! Gonna have my dinner, quick play in the snow then bedtime for me!

Hope you're all having fun at home!

Today's the day!

Official practice was yesterday, all the bowlers were split into 4 squads. 2male, 2 female! I was cheduled to bowl at 12.30 noon. We ran a little late and I got started around 1.15pm. I found the lanes a little quicker than expected. Whenever people have spoke about the World Cup pattern before I got the impression the were fairly dry and play fairly open, which I didn't find the case.

After the first 10 minutes we were free to move around the centre as we please til our 1hour and 15 minutes were up. I moved randomly until I was happy with the ball reaction from 2 balls. The Brunswick Blast Zone and the Hammer Black Widow. I found a couple of positive looking shots with each ball that I could move slighty either way to create different entry angles.

I then played on all the pairs I wouldbe bowling on today when the tournament starts to see if there was anything unusual about each pair! Nothing stood out so I just bowled to see how my reactions held up against the carry down on each pair! I was lucky enough to be able to play the same area of the lane just with slight adjusments!

I finished practice feeling happy and confident. I was throwing the ball well and felt comfortable with my game.

Onto some less serious stuff - We woke up to snow this morning :o) only a little but still it's snow! It was 2 degrees when we arrived on friday and it felt cold. Yesterday felt colder but I didn't realise how cold until I made a dash from the bowling centre to the bus in my skorts and my legs felt like ice! We checked the tempreture when we got back to the hotel to find it was -1 * note to myself : get changed next time!

I'm not sure what the temperature is today, just sat looking out the lobby window. I'm guessing from the way people are wrapped up and the way I can see their breathing clearer than ever before, it's pretty cold!

About the bowl:
The bowling centre is lovely. I haven't managed to load any photos yet but there is quite a few on Bowling Digital. 32 lanes 15 pairs and 2 singles lanes (17 & 18 divided by a pillar) The seats are like sofas behind the lanes for spectators so it's actually comfy to watch unlike the usual cold plastic seats! There is an upper lovel too where you can see the whole centre from one spot!

The opening ceremony was different. Very traiditional. All the countries were lined up on stripped lanes at each end of the centre then we were entertaind by drummers, russian dancers and then marched out to a brass band! Again I dont have pictures loaded yet but there is some flying around the internet!

Right I better go! Need to shower, change and have a quick boogie to some crazy music before we catch the bus at 12.30! We're gonna go for lunch at the food court in the shoping centre where the bowling centre is! It's wicked good - chinese, pizza, jacket potatoes, some crazy foreign stuff and KFC ( Which actually tastes like KFC at home :o) Happy Days! ) then prepare to bowl at 4pm (1pm English time!)

I'm Here!!!

I'm here! It was a loooong day! Alarm was set this morning for 6.30 am to be at Heathrow for 7.30am to fly at 9.45am! The flight was good, i was asleep before we actually took off and slept until there was 45 minutes till landing! Happy Days!

We had to hang around at the airport for around an hour to wait for other bowlers to arrive and some bowlers to organise their lost baggage! Northern Ireland & Wales have no baggage at all. Makes me realise how lucky I am!

The journey from the airport to the hotel was about 20 minutes, didn't see much out the windows due to lots of chatting and excitedness!

Check in at the hotel was a bit manic, there was about 100 people in the hotel lobby at the same time! Once we were sorted me n Amanda headed up to the room to chill our for a bit, shower then down to the restaurant for some food! I stayed safe tonight with Steak & potatoes which was rather nice!

I will bowl official practice tomorrow at 12.30noon. I will then have to decide which 6 of the 7 balls to register for the tournament!

The balls I have with me are: Brunswick Blast Zone, Ebonite Angular One, Hammer Black Widow, Brunswick Red Zone, Strom T Road Pearl, Lane Masters Hornet & A Think Square Dice!

Right bed time for me! We are 3 hours in front so 11.30pm!

Nighty Night

It's almost time!

Well, Well, Well - One more sleep to go! :o)

I'm not sure if I'm more excited or nervous this morning! I'm gonna start packing soon so I guess I will be nervous worrying then that I have got everything! Mom & Dad are around to keep checking things with me though so that's O.K!

I am leaving around 6pm today to drive to Nuneaton, I will leave my car there and drive the rest of the way with Alex! Stay at the Hamilton Inn this evening then fly from heathrow in the morning!

Once I'm organised today I'm gonna go for lunch at work to meet the girls I work with! Sandwich & Tea to say goodbye and wish me luck :o)

Oh My Days, I can't believe how quick the time has gone since I won the qualifier 15 1/2 weeks ago! It's just flown by! That could be because I've spent every minute of those 15 1/2 weeks in a bowling alley. Either bowling league, tournaments, practicing hard or working to build up hours to cover my trips!

When I return form the World Cup, I'm coming home for 2 days before leavig again to go to Essex for a week! Team England have put together a coaching clinic with Sid & Ruben - 2 fantastic coaches! I received the agenda for the week in the post an it's pretty intense but I'm sure it will be well worth while!

Right I better go and start getting ready!

Ooooo 1 More Sleeps! Yay
